Department of Diagnostic Imaging
A full range of procedures
are provided by the many departments that make up the Diagnostic Imaging Department
at St. Joseph’s. St. Joseph’s Diagnostic Imaging Department provides the following
services on both an outpatient and inpatient basis:
Diagnostic Radiology
- A complete range of radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures are performed
using both fixed and mobile equipment.
Magnetic
Resonance Imaging – Ultra Short Open MRI imaging and MRI angiography
is performed utilizing a 1.5 tesla magnet. This service is provided through
a joint venture with Hot Springs MRI, Inc.
Computerized Tomography – St. Joseph's 64-Slice CT Scanner provides
head and full body CT imaging, biopsy guidance, and three-dimensional volume
scanning procedures. St. Joseph’s is proud to offer multi-slice CT scanning
(64 images per second) with the capabilities of performing non-invasive imaging
of the arteries and other high resolution three-dimensional applications.
Nuclear Medicine - Single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT)
imaging is performed, as well as whole body, standard planar radionuclide procedures
and gated cardiac imaging with stress testing. Thyroid imaging and treatments
are also performed in this department.
Special
Vascular Procedures - Encompasses a full range of diagnostic and interventional
vascular procedures.
Ultrasound - Includes abdominal, obstetric, thyroid and breast imaging,
as well as a number of guided biopsy procedures. In addition, a full range of
vascular ultrasound procedures are performed to include color duplex doppler
vascular imaging (arterial and venous) and segmental pressures.
Mammographic - Imaging that includes screening and diagnostic mammograms,
stereotactic breast biopsy procedures and breast ultrasound imaging. All of
the procedures are performed in our state-of-the-art Mercy Women’s Center.
PET scanning - Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scanning of the entire
body is offered. PET imaging is the latest imaging technology and is a formidable
tool in the diagnosis of many disease processes. This service is provided through
a joint venture with St. Joseph’s PET Center, Inc.
PACS Picture Archival
Communication System - PACS allows the physicians instant access to
x-rays anywhere at any time.
All imaging procedures provided
by St. Joseph’s Diagnostic Imaging Department are available 24 hours a day,
