Mercy Diabetes and Wound Center

Mercy Diabetes and Wound Center

Diabetes is a disease that can have serious effects on many parts of your body, sometimes permanently. It annually affects 23.6 million people in the United States, and of that total 5.7 million don't even know they have the disease. If left untreated, diabetes can lead to heart and kidney disease, amputations, blindness, and other serious problems.

Scientific research has proven that controlling blood sugar levels can reduce the long-term complications of diabetes, and helping patients to do that on an enduring basis is what the Mercy Wound & Diabetes Center is all about. From hyperbaric oxygen therapy, chronic wound management and diabetic foot treatment to pre-diabetes and diabetes self-management outpatient education classes, individualized nutrition consultation and weight management, the Mercy Diabetes and Wound Center has become the Hot Springs area’s answer to full-service, proactive diabetes care. Our caring, experienced staff of dietitians, diabetes educators and nurses will help you learn to control your diabetes with education on eating healthy, exercising and taking your medicines the right way. We provide this education and support through our American Diabetes Association-certified outpatient services, and when there is a need for hospitalization, inpatient services.

Whether you are at risk for diabetes or not, finding out more about the disease could someday help you or someone you love. For information on the symptoms and treatment of diabetes, please call us at 501-622-4665 or 501-922-5451 ext. 4665.
