| Quality
Measures
One way to judge
healthcare quality is to measure the efficiency and extent to which
specific assessments and treatments are provided.
St. Joseph’s participates in a national initiative known as the Hospital
Quality Alliance (HQA) that is designed to measure healthcare quality
and advance patient care and safety. This initiative supports evidence-based
practices and the use of standards of care for specific diagnosis.
Hospitals who participate
in the initiative voluntarily report on a set of quality measures, including
heart attack, congestive heart failure, pneumonia and surgical site
infection prevention. The web sites of the Centers for Medicare
and Medicaid Services
(CMS) and The Joint Commission provide more
information on the initiative and the results of participating hospitals. By using the National Hospital Compare Rankings, users can investigate how hospitals
in their area are faring. Individual results can be found in the link below. Conduct searches by typing in the name of the hospital, as well as city and state it is located in (example: St. Joseph's Mercy Health Center, Hot Springs, Arkansas).
