Mercy Heart & Vascular Center – According to the American Heart Association, the nation’s leading killer of both men and women in all ethnic groups is cardiovascular disease. Approximately 70 million Americans presently suffer from the disease and the
need for quality cardiovascular care has never been greater. With that in mind, St. Joseph’s opened the 31,000-square-foot Mercy Heart & Vascular Center that is presently in the midst of a 23,000-square-foot expansion that is scheduled for a
spring of 2008 completion.

The Mercy Heart & Vascular Center staff is committed to clinical quality and is striving to make a true and lasting difference in the lives of the cardiovascular patients they serve. Evidence of that is the Center’s participation in heart attack and heart failure core measures with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). In addition, the Cardiac Catheterization Department participates in the American College of Cardiology (ACC) database registry for all patients who undergo a percutaneous coronary intervention or receive an implantable cardioverter defibrillator, which allows for quality comparisons among hospitals and the utilization of “best practice” models throughout the nation. Mercy Cancer Center – The need for advanced cancer care and research is an ever-increasing one. According to the National Vital Statistics Report from
the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, cancer is the nation’s second leading cause of death. Taking that into account, St. Joseph’s recently opened the
27,500-square-foot Mercy Cancer Center, a state-of-the-art facility located on the hospital’s
300 Werner Street medical campus.

The Mercy Cancer Center, which is certified by the Commission on Cancer (ACoS) of the prestigious American College of Surgeons, is the only one of its kind in South Central Arkansas, offering comprehensive cancer services all in one convenient location. In addition to the comprehensive services that the Center provides in the fight against cancer, St. Joseph’s is committed to clinical quality in cancer care. Mercy Women’s Center
– St. Joseph’s was founded by the Sisters of Mercy over 118 years ago, with a special commitment to caring for women and children. Today, that
commitment remains as strong as ever through our 20,000-square-foot Mercy Women’s Center, a free-standing building that is conveniently attached to the hospital.
The Center’s qualified staff offers compassionate care with advanced technologies, but all within a caring and nurturing environment.

St. Joseph’s offers a full range of services to meet the special needs of women throughout their lifespan, including the Mercy Pregnancy Care Clinic and comprehensive Mercy Breast Center that offers same-day mammography results, stereotactic biopsies and ultrasound testing with surgeons available for consultation. Preventative health services are also a priority, with the Mercy Mobile Mammography Unit – a 42-foot motor coach – making high-quality, accredited mammograms more accessible to area women. Mercy Diabetes & Wound Center
– Diabetes is a disease that can have serious effects on many parts of the body, sometimes permanently. Over 18.2 million Americans are afflicted by it, and of that number over five million don’t even know it. Left untreated, diabetes can lead to heart and kidney disease, amputations, blindness and other serious problems.

Scientific research has proven that controlling blood sugar levels can reduce the long-term complications of diabetes, and helping you do that on a long-term basis is what the Mercy Diabetes & Wound Center is all about. The Center – the Hot Springs area’s answer to full-service, proactive diabetes care – provides a wide range of services, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy, chronic wound management, diabetic foot treatment, pre and post-disease self-management education classes and individualized nutrition consultation and weight management. Our caring, experienced staff of dietitians, diabetes educators and registered nurses help you control your diabetes by eating healthy, exercising and taking your medications the right way. The Center staff provides this education and support through our American Diabetes Association-recognized outpatient services and, if there is a need for hospitalization, inpatient services.

With those comprehensive services always in mind, St. Joseph’s is committed to clinical quality in diabetic care. Please select from the following links below to learn more about diabetic health quality initiatives:
