Ross Hardy, M.D., Physiatrist, Levi Rehabilitation Unit

What's the purpose of rehabilitation treatment?

Rehabilitation helps a person transition from being limited by a disability to regaining life skills and personal independence. Because a disability is a life-altering experience, rehabilitation helps people with a disability relearn skills or learn adaptive skills to return to their home and work environment.

What disabilities are treated at Levi?

  • Head injury
  • Stroke
  • Amputation
  • Trauma
  • Surgery or illness
  • Birth defect
  • Spinal cord injury
  • Arthritis
  • Parkinson's Disease
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Orthopedic

What does the treatment entail?

In addition to medical and nursing care, rehabilitation treatment includes physical and occupational therapy, speech pathology, nutritional services and therapeutic recreation. Because a disability does not just affect the patient physically, the Unit also offers psychological and social services. Free support groups are available to patients and their families during their hospital stay and after they return home. Caring for the physical and emotional health of the patient makes this transition easier.
