St. Joseph’s appoints Rogers Administrative Director of Laboratory Services

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Carroll Rogers, BSMT, ASCP, was recently appointed Administrative Director of Laboratory Services by St. Joseph’s Mercy Health System.

Rogers, an Pocahontas native who has been in the industry since 1994 (the last 11 years as a director), comes to St. Joseph’s after serving Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi for one year in the same capacity. Rogers earned his bachelor of science degree in medical technology from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in the spring of 1994.

“We were happy at Central Mississippi Medical Center,” Rogers said. “The hospitals are both faith-based, not-for-profit institutions. They are also similar in size, but we wanted to get back to Arkansas. Arkansas is home and we are very excited to be back. St. Joseph’s is everything we heard it would be, too. I talked to residents of the Hot Springs community when I was here for my interview, and in addition to being very nice, they had nothing but rave reviews for St. Joseph’s.”

Rogers and his wife, Robin, reside in Hot Springs with their three children – 12-year-old Blake, nine-year-old Madison and six-year-old Carson.

“The laboratory staff is a great core group,” Rogers said. “I t is abundantly obvious they all want to perform and do a good job. In my estimation, a good manager surrounds himself with good people, and that is certainly what I see here. Furthermore, we are in a healing ministry of God, so it is nice to be able to express and talk about one’s spiritual beliefs. It is great to start every meeting with a prayer – a practice that I believe consistently puts everyone into the proper frame of mind. It has so far been obvious to me that St. Joseph’s co-workers take great pride in positively affecting the lives of our patients.”

A member of the Sisters of Mercy Health System, St. Joseph’s is a not-for-profit Catholic healthcare organization and three-time recipient of the large-company Gold Award at the Arkansas Governor’s Work-Life Balance Awards ceremony in the spring of 2006, 2007 and 2008.
